Tool Design
Toolmaking is our core business. In addition to injection molding tools,
we can design and manufacture bending and stamping tools. Furthermore, we can produce injection
molded parts. On this page, you will find all the information about our injection molding tools from China.
Multi-Component Tools
Through multi-component injection molding, parts made from two or more materials can be processed in a single operation. This special type of mold-making allows for various functions, such as seals, haptics, or assembly, to be combined. There are different processing methods available for realizing two- or multi-component parts. For our clients in the automotive industry, we have developed tools that connect seals made from elastic materials with the main part through over-molding.
Surface Treatment
To avoid extensive reworking, we can already influence the surface of your injection molded part through the injection mold. Most of our injection molds are designed for the production of smooth surfaces. However, there are differences depending on how finely the inside of the mold has been polished. Additionally, by using line polishing, a surface can be created that features a very fine matte texture. By etching the interior of the mold, we can also produce textured surfaces. Swiss Forming has utilized such textures to optimize the haptics of visible parts.
Precision Tools with Tight Tolerances
When manufacturing technical components using injection molds, especially in the automotive industry, tolerances and the associated accuracy of the parts play a significant role in ensuring that all components fit together during assembly. In recent years, we have produced tools with tolerances of just a few hundredths of a millimeter. We achieved this not only through meticulous precision work but also through the use of state-of-the-art measuring technology, precise milling and erosion machines, counter-measuring of all manufactured components, and quality management.
Geometrically Complex Shapes
The manufacturing of injection molds is subject to numerous rules that must be adhered to to obtain flawless parts. Therefore, it often happens that parts need to be modified for the injection mold. New technologies, such as special cooling, can help implement geometrically complex shapes instead of having to change the component. Swiss Forming has already designed and built injection molds with refrigerant cooling to allow our client to realize their design without significant changes.
We have our own design department.
3D CAD Stations from CIMATRON
Using state-of-the-art 3D CAD design stations, we develop, for example:
- Rotary table molds,
- Hybrid tools,
- Tools for band over-molding, and
- 2K tools.
Customer support begins in the planning phase to ensure our knowledge can be incorporated into the development process early on. This allows for more effective consideration of mold-related aspects in the production chain.
The 3D tool designs are created with CIMATRON E. Our designers perform the necessary kinematic and thermal calculations. They possess high expertise in cooling technology, special cooling, 2-component, gas internal pressure, and hybrid tools.
We use a special joining method in the cooling area to achieve better quality for your plastic parts and reduced cycle times. Combining multiple materials allows for qualitative and cost-effective manufacturing of complex components.
We pay special attention to the continuity from planning through design work to programming for manufacturing to offer our customers the greatest possible schedule reliability.
